Yesterday I posted on this blog that OkadaBooks was a means to making money online.

To my shock today while I was on X, I saw the official announcement that OkadaBooks will be shutting down on the 30th of this month.

I am stunned even as I type this. This goes to show the need for a creator to seek to own their own platform.

As I state in this post, OkadaBooks is a great place to start. However, I firmly believe that it is not a place to remain as an author.

I think of OkadaBooks like training wheels for a bicycle. Once you have mastered how to peddle, you should seek to get your own platform.

OkadaBooks was started in 2013 by Okechukwu Ofili in 2013 and provided a platform for discovery for new authors to sell books online.

The contribution of OkadaBooks to the literary space in Nigeria is significant and the platform will be missed.
